Almost immediately after we confirmed our newest phone, PRIV by BlackBerry, would be powered by a unique, security-amplified version of Android 5.1 Lollipop, people started asking when we’d update PRIV to Android 6.0 Marshmallow. Another reveal during today's earnings call, was that the largely anticipated Android 6.0 (Marshmallow) update is heading to handsets in late April / Early May depending on approvals.

This news comes as expected, since the leaks of yesterday pointed to the update arriving within a reasonable amount of time, but thankfully we now have a firm ETA. If you're curious to see what Android 6 brings, check out Google's homepage here. See the Priv running Marshmallow here.

During the Q4 Fiscal 2016 Earnings Call, BlackBerry CEO John Chen dropped that the OS 10.3.3 update for BlackBerry 10 wouldn't be arriving as early as we were initially told.

A couple months back, the company mentioned the update was expected out around a March timeframe. The new date has been set for "mid-June" pending technical certification with the NIAP. Of course, this will come as dissapointing to many folks - but these things are often left out of the hands at BlackBerry, and into hands ...

BlackBerry has just released its results and here are the highlights for your pleasure:

Q4 Highlights

• Non-GAAP total revenue of $487 million
• Non-GAAP software and services revenue of $153 million, up 106% percent for the same quarter year over year, allowing software and services revenue to grow to $527 million in FY 2016
• Adjusted EBITDA of $78 million
• Cash and investments balance of $2.62 billion at the end of the fiscal quarter
• Non-GAAP loss of $(0.03) per share
• Unveiled a new QNX software ...

If the leaks weren't enough indication for you as to how close Android 6 is for the Priv, BlackBerry has just updated the official BBM app in the Play Store to support Marshmallow 6.0+ devices.

Here's what's new:

• All Privacy and Control features are now FREE – Timed messages & photos, Retract, Private Chat, and Edit
• Forward messages from one chat to another
• Ability to mute notifications for a multi-person chat
• Scroll through all pictures shared within a 1:1 or ...

With anticipation building among Priv owners, some images and now a video have surfaced showing the device running the upcoming Android 6.0.1 update - known as Marshmallow.

Taking a look at the video, BlackBerry hasn't added much in terms of UI or functionality changes. Of course, the update itself should be a welcomed one, bringing new permission features and added battery efficiencies that many Priv owners will appreciate.
