BlackBerry Priv doesnt have a solid photo and video viewing app. Unfortunately BlackBerry thought it would be ok to just leave people with Google's generic Photo's app but for most of us we need more than that. This app is awesome because it syncs to dropbox and other account, nicely organizes your photos based on the albums you have them saved in, or organizes them by date. This is a great replacement for what we would expect any phone to have a proper app for.

Features:

  • Combines the best of Android and iPhone! Material design and iPhone style album organizer!
  • Playing videos with our unique quick seek technology!
  • Free cloud backup to Dropbox, Facebook and Amazon cloud drive.
  • Searching photos by image color.
  • Play video with Quick Seek.
  • Beautiful material design themes and animations!
  • iPhone style photo view. And better than iPhone!
  • Unique cloud backup with Dropbox, Facebook and Amazon cloud drive!
  • Backup photos/album to Dropbox/Facebook/Amazon cloud drive
  • Using it as a Dropbox/Facebook/Amazon album downloader
  • Using it as a Dropbox/Facebook photo uploader
  • Search phone photos by Color
  • Handy photo albums organizer

Another app that BlackBerry conveniently forgot to include on a stock Priv is a music player app. With all the music i had saved on my SD card from my BlackBerry Passport days, there is now a decent app that I can play this music off of regardless of the file type. Although I must thank BlackBerry for not having a music app, it forced me to use Spotify (which is awesome), but this is the app I recommend to anyone in need of a music player.

Features:

  • Supports the standard local music file formats such as MP3, WAV, OGG.
  • Build in Equalizer, bassboost & 3D surround virtualizer or option to use external Equalizer.
  • Flac support (4.1+)
  • Gapless playback.
  • View & Edit embedded lyrics
  • HD Album cover management, auto and manual.
  • ID3 Tag editor, edit Track, Albums & Artists
  • Changeable Themes, fonts and colors.
  • Very customizable.
  • Music scrobbling.
  • 3 widgets.
  • Sleep timer
  • Flat minimalistic design.
  • Ad-free

Although we have already included this app in our App Picks once before, that time it was for BlackBerry 10 and this time it is for the Priv on Android. As explained before, this app is awesome to figure out that sound you are listening to but do not know the name of. Just tap the app and within seconds, it tells you what song is playing. My favorite part of this app is something only Android is capable of (not BlackBerry 10), that is creating a shortcut. I have created a shortcut for the app that sits on my home-page that once opened, it goes directly into listen mode to tell you the song. This is awesome for when you are at the last seconds of a song and you need to be quick to let the app listen. The app also give a direct link to the song on spotify so you can save it to a playlist for future listening.

Features:

  • Save & add to your Spotify playlist
  • Listen to the full song, and follow along with our exclusive LiveLyrics®, right in SoundHound with a connected Spotify Premium account
  • View lyrics, moving real-time with the music
  • Access artist photos & biographies
  • View album release date & band info
  • Watch music videos - choose your favorites or browse the top videos others are watching
  • Preview songs & album reviews
  • Share your favorite songs to Facebook and Twitter
  • Launch Spotify, Pandora, or Google Play Radio
  • Purchase songs or albums instantly in Google Play
  • Control the TouchTunes Jukebox and play your songs at select venues
  • Check out the hottest in new music

Review:
I cannot count how many times I am beside my fiance at night trying to work away on my BlackBerry Passport keyboard, and she shoves me because the clicking is too loud and it keeps her up. Although this app is not the greatest replacement for a virtual keyboard, it does the job. It provides an onscreen keyboard for physical keyboard devices. There is no autocorrect feature so you need to be very accurate but it works wonders when trying to stay quiet.

Features:

  • Many keyboards layout available : Arabic, Armenian, AZERTY, Bugarian, EMOTICONS, Estonian, Finnish, Georgian, German, Greek, Hebrew, Hebrew (Traditional), Italian, Japanese, Latvian, Lithuanian, Macedonian, Mongolian, Persian, QWERTY, QWERTZ, QZERTY, Russian, Serbian, Slovenian, Turkish, Ukrainian, Urdu and Vietnamese - Special characters support (É, ¿, °, ñ, etc.)

  • Emoticon support

  • Dark and Bright theme

  • Customizable keyboard size (height)

  • 'Squeeze' the keyboard on left or right for easy one hand typing

  • Can be invoked as a card anywhere in the OS

  • You can use your physical keyboard at the same time if needed

  • Integrated with the system clipboard

GadgetBox is awesome because i bought this one app and it came with so many features that I use regularily as an Engineer. One of my favorite parts is the speedometer. I drive many different vehicles depending on what I am expected to do for work from day to day, and this function lets me confirm the speed I am going so that i do not get trouble from police. Every other feature comes handy with measurements and more when I am at different sites consulting day to day.

  • Level
  • Enhanced Compass

  • Shape Calculator
  • Speedometer
  • Protractor
  • Infinite Ruler
