Welcome to Five Tip Friday!
Each Friday, we'll post helpful tips about your BlackBerry device. From software to hardware, you can be sure to get the latest info on your device right here!
Special PRIV Tips:
1. Universal Search
You can start searching your complete device for almost anything by just typing the term via the keyboard.
The universal search is very similar to the one found in BlackBerry 10 and searches your Apps, Messages, Contacts, Browser Data, Emails, File Storage and a lot more! All you need to do is go the home screen, flip out the keyboard and start typing! You can also extend the search to Google, Bing or any other engine you wish!
According to our experience, we've found the search to be much quicker and precise than any other substitute available out there!
2. Make suitabe Camera Settings
The Priv's 18MP Schneider Kreusnach Camera supports 4K Video recording at 30FPS and 1080P at 60FPS and also incudes Digital Image Stabilization. Here's how you can set them:
Step 1: Open the Camera App
Step 2: Select the Setting option in the top left corner when in landscape mode
Step 3: You should see the Resolution and Frame option in the Videos section. Select the one you want!
Step 4: You can also toggle Video Stabilization which is located right beneath Resolution and Frame Rates
Note: For 4K recording it is recommended to have a Class 10 or better SD Card as the file generated is very large and requires faster writing as well as reading speed.
3. Play a Flappy Birds Clone
BlackBerry Priv runs on Android 5.1.1 (Lollipop) which has a hidden clone of Flappy Birds pre installed (This is actually an Easter Egg)! Here's how you can pass your time:
Step 1: Swipe left from within the Hub to show the accounts menu
Step 2: Scroll down to the bottom and select Settings
Step 3: Scroll down and select About Phone
Step 4: You shall see an option stating Android Version as 5.1.1. Tap it several times and the game will start loading!
This feature or easter egg is not unique to just BlackBerry Priv but can be found in every Android 5.X.X device
BlackBerry 10 Tips:
4. Hide Images in Pictures App
The Default Pictures app in BlackBerry 10 enables you to easily hide pictures so that you can view your images publicly without worrying about unwanted intrusions!
Step 1: Go to the Pictures App
Step 2: Long press and select the Image / Images you want to hide
Step 3: Tap Hide option which soon pops up
Step 4: To view your hidden images, Swipe down from the top in the app and tap Unhide
You can hide the selected images again the same way you unhide them
5. Troubleshoot your BlackBerry 10 Device
BlackBerry has released an app that will troubleshoot your device for any Hardware Issues like Camera Flash, LED, Vibrator, Keybaord Keys and tonnes more!
Step 1: Download and Install BlackBerry Virtual Expert from BlackBerry World

If you find a any irregularities in the test then you can easily get that particular component replaced or repaired from a BlackBerry Service Center!
